'Dreamy Lady' Danielz & Rolan duet
('Dreamy Lady' Danielz & Rolan duet MP3)

Danielz explains how the duet happened

I first met Rolan in 1997. Caron, my wife, has known Gloria since the mid-1970s and used to sit Rolan on her lap when he was just a baby, so she had a head start on me. I spent a lot of time with Rolan in 1997, going to his birthday party and generally hanging out. He had never sung in front of a live crowd before so it took a bit of persuasion to finally get him to agree to sing with me in front of 1000+ people. However, the trip in our minibus up from London to Cambridge gave me enough time to persuade him that it would be a good idea and that the audience would love him. I suggested 'Dreamy Lady' as he could associate this song with his Mum. We went over and over it again and again, until Rolan got the words and tune together. He was originally going to sing the whole song, but as we got closer to Cambridge he became a little nervous and asked if we would sing alternate verses.

In the end we did just that and sang the choruses together. Before the gig, sound checking took forever and Rolan waited patiently in the wings doing Elvis Presley impersonations, as we were all joking earlier on that he looked a little like Elvis.
When Rolan finally took to the stage a big cheer from the crowd made him feel a little less anxious, and I for one, felt quite pleased and proud that Rolan had decided that his first ever performance would be with T.Rextasy, because although Gloria has always given her blessing, it was also nice to have Rolan's too. Backstage there was a large bouquet of flowers that were presented to Caron and myself earlier on, and Rolan, in his enthusiasm and relief that it was over, started throwing them out to the audience! Because of our busy schedule throughout the year, it has been difficult to see Rolan when he visits the UK, with the exception of the odd appearances he has made at our shows, but I have a lot of respect for him and wish him well in whatever he decides to get involved with because being the son of one of the greatest rock'n'rollers in history can't be easy.
I wish you all well.
